Hi!

Thank you for visiting my page and donating to a great cause! This is my sixth year hiking for the Brain Injury Association’s Pikes Peak Challenge.  My goal is $3500.00 this year, as I typically raise between 2-3 thousand dollars every year with my friends, family and client support. I am proud to announce that ANB Bank will be a Trail Head sponsor this year as well. Thank you ANB (Lonnie Parsons)!

Ten years ago our son, Jadyn had a stroke at birth. He had seizures for the first three days, swallowed meconium, umbilical cord around his neck ,stopped breathing and was placed on oxygen. Tragic place for new parents to be…however with gods prayers, Jadyn has come a long way. Jadyn suffered brain damage to the right side of his brain, which affects the left side of his body.  His fine motor is impacted. He is diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. He still deals with partial seizures that is controlled with medication. We are blessed for where he is today, however I realize many people within our community have their own story, their own challenges and their very own successes. This cause is near and dear to me, as I have dealt with it first hand having  a brain injury survivor in my very own family, my son.

Every year, I hike for him. I hike for our community, as I am blessed to live in a community of military dominance…whom in which they have fought for our country and for us to have the freedom we have today! I hike for those who are struck with an illness that has caused injury to the brain, the drunk driver survivors….the list goes on and on

Every year, as I hit those sixteen golden stairs, nearing the top of the summit..I always hit my second wind as you have brain injury survivors waiting at the top to personally thank you, shake your hands and give you a hug to give their appreciation for the cause. Every year I shed tears as that occurs because it feels so good to do this for the survivors and for those who may have not been fortunate to survive their brain injury .

I am very proud to dedicate my time for this cause until I can no longer do this. Our family has been blessed with Jadyn and despite his challenges, he is a determined, independent child that works hard every day to overcome his disability.

I am proud to support the Pikes Peak Challenge and looking forward to all of your support again for the 6th year

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Please see below for a brief overview from the Brain Injury Alliance.

I’m participating in the Pikes Peak Challenge Summit Hike to support the Brain Injury Alliance of Colorado (BIAC). When I finish, I will have hiked 13 miles and 7,400 vertical feet to the 14,110 foot summit of Pikes Peak to join other hikers and supporters in celebration of brain injury awareness.

Although this is quite an undertaking considering the altitude, possible weather conditions and other athletic requirements I might encounter, it pales in comparison to what survivors of a Brain Injury face every day. Did you know that there are over 200,000 individuals living with the effects of a brain injury in Colorado and that 5,000 new cases are reported every year?

The Brain Injury Alliance of Colorado is dedicated to serving individuals affected by all forms of injuries to the brain such as stroke, TBI, tumor, anoxia and infection.

Our mission is to improve the quality of life for survivors by connecting them with resources to help navigate the path of rehabilitation.

Thank you so much for your support! Without you, BIAC cannot offer the much needed services to the brain injury community in Colorado.
