It is hard to know how to do a biography now. Do I write about who I was before 1999: my first accidental toxic brain injury - the one that started the whole journey? Do I write about who I was between 1999 and 2008? The time where there were 4 more exposures, each doing more damage, some that I knew but was a time when I struggled with some things not knowing why and keeping hidden from others. Do I write about who I was between 2008 - 2011? The time when my brain broke; my awful workers comp case, the wonderful people that God connected and led me to; the ones that believed me, understood my newest world and helped me to cope. Do I write about 2011 when I was airlifted off Pikes Peak and the new challenges and new me I live with since then? The new people who understand me and have supported me. Or do I write about me now in my new normal; life now - the day in and day out of a new world for me? Facts of a biography include things like born in 1956, graduated from HS 1974, college 1978, etc, etc, etc... To me my biography would not have those but focus on the people. The amazing net of people God has woven together throughout my life. The fabric that continues to be woven, sometimes with snags, rips and holes, but always a beautiful fabic with one golden thread woven throughout - the presence of God.

2015 Pikes Peak Challenge Virtual Hiker: Barb Wagenfuhr

2015 -I’m participating in the Pikes Peak Challenge Virtual Hike. This is my 6th year to take part in this important event. I’m doing it as a virtual hiker since we are out of town that day. I have done lots of things this past year that have been very challenging just like the PPC is for me. So I hope you’ll consider supporting me this year. Thank you in advance for you support.

Pikes Peak Challenge Barr Camp Hiker: Barb Wagenfuhr

2014. Thank you to all of you who donated in 2014 and helped me reach my goal and more! If you would like to donate for 2015, please click on the other image under my name. I’m aiming high in my fifth year of hiking the Pikes Peak Challenge (PPC). Help me make a difference for survivors of brain injuries by supporting the Brain Injury Alliance of CO. I will be hiking to Barr Camp and back down. Brain injuries have so many causes: strokes, concussions, trauma, toxins, illness, but regardless the cause, the effects are what matter. Your gift will help fund the BIAC in its efforts to support, education and resource survivors of any type of brain injury.
