I’m participating in the Pikes Peak Challenge Summit Hike because it is challenging, gorgeous and so damn rewarding to reach the summit. Team GiddyUp will help keep me focused on putting one step in front of the other and laughing, when I really want the climbing to be done…with many miles still remaining. I have several close family members and friends who have experienced TBIs and I will Hike the Summit in their names this year…Susan, Carol, Tyrone, Heidi…I honor each one of you, and love you all.

I’m participating in the Pikes Peak Challenge Summit Hike for a host of reasons. First, I love to hike, especially with my wife, Jenny. She hiked the Pikes Peak Summit last year for the first time, in support of her dear sister Heidi, who suffered a terrible TBI in March 2016. Heidi’s recovery has been miraculous, but like all brain injury survivors, her progress is slow and steady…just the way I envision my first hike up Pikes Peak this year. Besides Heidi, I have had one first cousin, Susan L., another childhood pal, Carol D., and a dear dear man, Tyrone H. all experience severe head injuries that have changed their lives. Forever. But they are all courageous survivors and live very productive, exceptional lives. I am honored to join the other hikers and BIAColorado to continue to raise funds to improve the lives of these heroes of mine. Please join me. Any amount will help the next human who faces a life-changing TBI.
