Melissa Winthers practices in the area of personal injury and has obtained a number of multi-million dollar awards for her clients. Her knowledge and understanding of her clients’ injuries and the medicine is a key factor in obtaining these awards. Melissa was designated a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers, a rating service of outstanding lawyers who have distinguished themselves through peer recognition and professional achievement, and she has been named a “Super Lawyer” in 2015. She has received the Martindale Hubbell peer reviewed rating of AV pre-eminent, the highest rating given. Melissa is a Colorado native who graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Colorado College in 1995.

Melissa serves as the President of the Brain Injury Alliance of Colorado (BIAC) and serves on the Board of Directors of the Chanda Plan Foundation. She participates in the Pikes Peak Challenge, BIAC’s annual fundraiser, with her daughter Ella. When she is not working, Melissa enjoys camping in the national parks with her husband Peter, daughter Ella and dog Irwin.

Melissa authors a column for the Colorado Chiropractic Association regarding medical-legal issues, and she has spoken at numerous medical and legal seminars about brain injuries and traumatic neck and back injuries and their long-term consequences. She has lectured to medical providers and health care associations regarding proving injuries in the courtroom and appropriate record keeping. As a young lawyer, Melissa set up trial skills seminars for new lawyers through the Colorado Trial Lawyers’ Association. She is licensed to practice before the Colorado Supreme Court and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
