April 8th 2015 my life changed. Just 24hrs prior I was a volunteer firefighter and working as an Emergency Response Tech. I am now a different person; living with an “invisible injury” People say I am lucky more significant bodily harm didn’t occur; they obviously do not live with a TBI. Pain, confusion, difficulty accomplishing minor tasks can now become taxing. Filled with unknowns of what tomorrow will bring.
There are 500,000 adults in Colorado who have sustained a TBI and are now living with disabilities. The Brain Injury Alliance of Colorado provides amazing resources for us survivors and their families as we journey along this detour in our lives.
We walk not only to thank the individuals and services BIAC provides, but to show each other that no one is alone on this path but there is a community that will continue to be there and push us along the way.
Please support us and BIAC in any way you can.
Thank you,
Ryan Mader
