I’m participating in the Pikes Peak Challenge Summit Hike to support the Brain Injury Alliance of Colorado (BIAC). When I finish, I will have hiked 13 miles and 7,400 vertical feet to the 14,110 foot summit of Pikes Peak to join other hikers and supporters in celebration of brain injury awareness.

Although this is quite an undertaking considering the altitude, possible weather conditions, and other athletic requirements I might encounter, it pales in comparison to what survivors of a Brain Injury face every day.

And hey, did you know I am a survivor? So that makes this challenge all the more challenging for me. When I wake up on Sept. 10, I will have no idea what level of head pain, brain fog, or exhaustion I may be facing. Those are the mountains I must scale every single day.

FYI, BIAC is the organization that survivors and families can turn to, with trusted staff who will listen, understand their situation, and provide them with solutions to help navigate their path to recovery.

Thank you so much for your support! Without you, BIAC cannot offer the much needed services to the brain injury community in Colorado. I am also a recipient of BIAC’s services, and their continued support is so important to me and thousands of other survivors every day.
