Dear Family and Friends,
I can’t believe the 2019 Pikes Peak Challenge is just 20 days away! Every year I tell myself I am going to send this email out sooner and every year it still seems to sneak up on me! This year the Pikes Peak Challenge Summit Hike for Brain Injury Awareness is Saturday, September 7. This will be the ninth year that I have participated in this amazing event and I am excited to hit the mountain again. As in years past, I will be hiking 13 miles and climbing 7,400 vertical feet up Barr Trail to the summit of Pikes Peak to join other hikers and supporters in celebration of brain injury awareness and prevention.
Reflecting on the past eight years participating in this event, I am impressed with how many people I know who have been affected by a Brain Injury. I have a much greater appreciation for just how much our lives can be impacted by those around us who have suffered a traumatic brain injury. All of their stories are stirring, uplifting, and motivating. They are a testament to the unconquerable human spirit and the difference that family and friends can make in overcoming adversity.
It is for these reasons that this particular event has come to mean so much to me. Each of you has been a part of something that I believe is genuinely noble and your love and support motivates me each year to hike again. All of you have incredible stories and over the past eight years we have created an amazing legacy that I will always treasure. Every one of you has been truly inspiring to me and I cannot thank you enough or express how much this has meant!
I hope that you will consider making a donation to this important cause again this year. You can donate by following this link: https://www.pikespeakchallenge.com/campaigns/2019-pikes-peak-challenge-summit-hiker-kory-turner/. You can also visit https://www.pikespeakchallenge.com/, click the “Donate to a Participant” button in the middle of the page, search for my name, and click it.
In 2018 we raised a total of $1740.00 together and we were the 12th highest fundraiser! This year I have set a very ambitious goal to raise $2000.00. Every dollar we raise makes a difference and is a great opportunity to help increase awareness. Whatever you feel you are able to contribute goes towards this end and I deeply appreciate any help you can give. Thank you for making a difference in my life and in the lives of Brian Injury Survivors everywhere!
I Love You All!
