Dear Family and Friends,
What a crazy year this has been! It is hard to believe the upheaval that 2020 has brought to our lives. I know that each of us has been impacted by it in one way or another, and regardless of how minor or severe that impact has been I pray for our health and comfort and peace.
Even with the craziness surrounding us, life goes on and towards that end, I will be participating in the Pikes Peak Challenge for the tenth time this year! The 2020 Pikes Peak Challenge Hike for Brain Injury Awareness is Saturday, September 12 and will look quite a bit different from how it has in the past. This year, the hike does not go all the way to the summit. Instead, I will hike to Barr Camp which is about half way up the mountain and then hike back down again. Even though, it is not the full hike that I am used to, I am still very excited for it.
As I have reflected on the past nine years of participating in this event, I have also thought about the unique challenges that 2020 has brought to us all. Just as many of us may know someone who has been affected by a Brain Injury, I am sure each of us knows someone who has been impacted by the turmoil of the year. And while every day may bring new stories of tragedy and heartbreak, it also brings stories filled with perseverance, fortitude, determination, and hope. These are the stories I choose to focus on because they inspire me. They remind me just how much of an impact we can have in each other’s lives. They are a stirring, uplifting, and motivating testament to the unconquerable human spirit and the difference that family and friends can make in overcoming adversity.
The Pikes Peak Challenge means a great deal to me for its efforts to raise Brain Injury Awareness. That said, this year’s event is particularly special to me, because I hike for everyone who has been impacted by the events of this year. Regardless of what that impact may be, I hike in the hope that it will inspire you to keep trying, to keep hope in your lives, and to remember that there are people out there who care about you! You are not alone! Each of us is part of something that is genuinely noble and just as I have been supported and motivated by your love, I hope that I can inspire and motivate you. All of you have incredible stories and together we have created an amazing legacy that I will always treasure. Every one of you has been truly inspiring to me and I cannot thank you enough or express how much this has meant!
I hope that you will consider making a donation to this important cause again this year.
In 2019 we raised a total of $2175.00 together and we were the 5th highest fundraiser! This year my goal is to raise $2175.00 and match last year. Every dollar we raise makes a difference, is a great opportunity to help increase awareness, and reflects our belief that 2020 can still be an amazing year! Whatever you feel you are able to contribute goes towards this end and I deeply appreciate any help you can give. Thank you for everything you do to make a difference!
I Love You All!
