In 2012, I attempted my first Half Marathon, and survived! So much so, that I ran a Full Marathon the following year on behalf of the Brain Injury Alliance of Colorado. Running for BIAC made a world of difference in my training, bringing meaning to my effort. I sought to raise awareness, and funding, for the work BIAC does in our state. I wrote this blog last spring while training for my full marathon. It talks about what inspired me to not only work in this field, but also run for BIAC: http://lizgerdeman.wordpress.com/. I originally planned to run the Half Marathon again this year, but due to life changes (like trying to sell our house!) I haven’t had the time to dedicate to training . Instead, however, I’ve committed to running the 5k with my parents and my dog, Stella. Running with Stella will likely draw a lot of attention, given that she’s a Great Dane. Therefore, I hope to raise awareness about BIAC by making her wear a BIAC t-shirt.
- If I can raise $200 by race day, I will also make her wear at tutu.
- If I can raise $350 by race day, I will also make her wear a helmet!
- If I exceed my goal of $500… I will match her!
Help me humiliate my dog and raise awareness about brain injuries, all at the same time 🙂
